The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Belgium chapter organized a peaceful protest on October 19, 2024, in front of the European Parliament in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
The protest was held to condemn the brutal attacks, oppression, and killings carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against defenseless Afghan refugees. According to verified reports, over 280 Afghan refugees were killed, with many others injured or detained.
The demonstration saw participation from representatives of different Afghan communities, civil society organizations, human rights activists, European citizens, and members of PTM Belgium.
At the conclusion of the protest, an official resolution was released, demanding the following from the European Union, international human rights organizations, and the global community:
• To impose serious political and economic pressure on the Iranian government to stop the killing, torture, detention, and forced deportation of Afghan refugees.
• To ensure the protection of Afghan refugees’ rights and to enforce international conventions.
• To raise the issue at the European Parliament and bring it into the focus of international discourse.
PTM Belgium remains committed to raising its voice against oppression, injustice, and violations of human rights and will continue its efforts to defend the rights of Afghan refugees.
